Memory (03) / Trivial Neutral
Lessons in Horde and Alliance leadership from Jaina.

Handless Faith, Day 369. Crumpled ball of paper; smooth to view. [1/4]

Anduin uses a small stone with a blue rune in the center -- a Hearthstone -- to teleport to Theramore's study, where he awaits his Aunt Jaina. When she arrives, she's wearing a tattered outfit, not at all her normal dress, considering she's the ruler of a small nation. But Anduin's already prepared tea for her, so they set about having a nice chat.
“Hello, Aunt Jaina,” he said. “Your hearthstone worked perfectly.”

“Goodness, Anduin!” Jaina said, startled but pleased. “I only just saw you a few days ago!”

“I did warn you that you’d be seeing me all the time,” he said jokingly.

“Well, lucky me.” She stepped forward, mussed his hair, and went to the sideboard to pour herself her own cup of tea.

“Why are you wearing that ugly cloak?” Anduin asked.

“Oh, well,” Jaina said, caught off guard, “I didn’t want to attract attention. I’m sure you don’t always want people knowing it’s you when you’re out riding or such.”

“I don’t mind,” Anduin said. “But then again, I don’t have secret meetings with orcs in the middle of nowhere.”

Jaina whirled, splashing tea. “How did—”

“Yes!” Anduin looked delighted. “I was right! You were out meeting Thrall!”

Jaina sighed and wiped at her robes, grateful that they were, actually, the rough and dirty ones rather than her nice, everyday clothes. “You’re too perceptive for your own good, Anduin,” she said.

He grew sober. “It’s how I’ve stayed alive,” he said matter-of-factly. Jaina felt her heart lurch in empathy for the boy, but he was not seeking pity. “I’ve got to admit, I’m surprised that you’re seeing him. I mean, what I overheard from the Sentinels about the attack seems pretty brutal. Not the sort of thing Thrall would endorse.”

She moved toward the fire with her cup of tea, pulling up her own chair. “That’s because he didn’t endorse it.”

“So he’s going to apologize and turn over the killers?”

Jaina shook her head. “No. An apology—but only for breaking the treaty. Not for how it was broken.”

Anduin’s face fell. “But … if he wasn’t responsible, and he doesn’t think it’s a good thing—why not? How does that help earn trust?”

How indeed, Jaina thought, but did not say. “One of the things you’ll learn, Anduin, is that sometimes you can’t always do what you’d like to do. Or even do what you think is the right thing—at least not right away. Thrall certainly doesn’t want war with the Alliance. He wants to cooperate for all our benefits. But—the Horde thinks differently from the Alliance about a lot of things, and displays of power and strength are absolutely key to a leader’s ability to govern them.”

Anduin then correlates this type of leadership to the way Lo'Gosh works -- and Jaina agrees, admitting that that had a large role in why Lo'Gosh was so popular in the gladiator arenas, and why he's still very savage to this day. Jaina presses more cakes onto him, and they discuss why Thrall, because of his position in the Horde, can't simply apologize for actions that his people made. Anduin understands, considering the situation over his tea and aptly remarking that sometimes the correct decision must be pushed until later, when you have more support for your goals. Jaina decides that that's enough solemnity for this visit, and attempts to get Anduin to share some court gossip -- and when he doesn't know any, presses him to make some up for her. They past the rest of their visit in laughter and jokes.

Effects:
- HEY THAT'S FROST, this is the big one. He now realizes that Frost is someone he knows from home, and even calls "Aunt."
- Names for Jaina and Anduin are blurred out!
- Why...does she always attempt to stuff me full of cake....?
+1000 interest in political affairs
- Knowledge of the Horde: it is a body of people who his family is generally aligned against. Something bad happened between them, and the leader of the Horde, Thrall, can't necessarily apologize for it because a lot of people agree with what happened. Essentially there was an attack on Alliance forces (Sentinels!) and the Horde was complicit in their gruesome deaths.
- Knowledge that the Horde and the Alliance are generally always fighting
- Basically just a better understanding of the politics at home, and +100000 dere for Aunt 'u'
+500 understanding that Lo'Gosh is his father -- who is also called Varian. This sort of personality is why he was so mean to those nobles in his first regained memory.

Skill (01) / Special
Level 1-7 Priest Skills.

Mr. Right, Day 369. Golden Laurel; wear to use.

Anduin receives four low-level abilities with this skill, all ones that you receive from level 1-7 in Warcraft. As a priest, these are extremely standard, and every Priest learns them very early on in their training. He hasn't recovered any of the bonus effects that they receive from higher level Discipline talents yet, so they work just as advertised with no special side effects.

Anduin also unlocks his mana pool, which can now be exhausted as if he was in the game properly. For all intents and purposes, he's a kawaii level 7 and not very strong at all. But he can heal!

Smite: Anduin can call a blast of holy light from the sky, which deals a slight amount of damage. Bonus damage can be added if he channels it through a magical item, like a staff or a wand. Since he doesn't have one of those yet, he's pretty much stuck with a dinky baby protection :'D This spell pings as very light and good!

Shadow Word: Pain: Calling on the realm of shadows, Anduin can curse an enemy for a blast of damage and then smaller damage over time (with approximate time lasting, in Aather, as long as the runner wants to play with it). This spell is complete dark magic.

Power Word: Shield: The first on Anduin's protection spells, it is a very basic shield to protect against physical and magical attacks.
"Draws on the soul of the friendly target to shield them, absorbing damage. While the shield holds, spellcasting will not be interrupted by damage. Once shielded, the target cannot be shielded again for 15 sec."

Flash Heal: Heals a friendly target for a relatively large amount -- however, it also costs proportionately more mana, as this is a very unrefined spell. Think of Anduin's flash heal as a last-minute fix: he basically shoves light-aligned magic into someone, and it heals them for a proportional amount. But it's not nuanced, and after three or so heals like this he will definitely be out of mana for the day. He'll get better heals later.
